We are renovating a historic family farm in the Allegan area. The farm will be open to the public and will host live workshops on food preservation; nutrition; animal husbandry; historic farm life; sustainable farm and garden practices and more. We will offer day and weekend long workshops for cancer and diabetes patients and their caregivers focusing on self care: eating for healthy living, managing stress, yoga and the like.
We will host school bus tours, and offer hay rides, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch and snow shoeing trails. We will teach and model practices for more sustainable living, including composting, rain catchment and passive solar. We will host barn dances and folk concerts in our renovated barn circa 1870. Youth who work the farm through our job training program will learn marketing, gardening and leadership skills, while earning high school credit. We welcome all volunteers and supporters in a traditional, warm, friendly, farm family spirit.
